Inspiration for Front Cover: Alice Porter

I have researched some former fashion and beauty magazine covers, focusing on Bazaar magazine and the composition of the model for example. I have been focusing on outdoor backgrounds mainly, as this will enable me to catch and enhance every detail of the model(s) through the use of natural lighting. I feel that this could be very effective, as it could potentially increase the quality of the magazine and make the product look more professional, therefore encouraging the target audience to purchase the product. Also, this could lead to the magazine gaining more recognition and an identity within the print industry, increasing popularity. Also, after looking through different magazine covers and products, I have noticed that the use of a plain, bold background is very effective, as it allows the reader to concentrate on the model, being the centre of attention, enabling them to analyse the different features: costume, composition, lighting etc. I also feel that a close up shot for the front cover would be most effective as it is easy to analyse and is mostly used in fashion and beauty magazines like Elle, Vogue, and Marie Claire. As the shot would be closer, it increases interactivity, therefore we as the reader/audience feel closer to the star/model.
